Dear Families,
STUDENT WELLBEING DAY + FAMILY STEM SHOWCASE & GAMES AFTERNOON
Friday 25th October
One final reminder to families about tomorrow’s exciting events – families and students are very much looking forward to the day and the chance to have fun and celebrate the values and expected behaviours we strive to demonstrate at Wallington.
Remember, students can choose to dress in the colours that represent our values: Respect-blue, Responsibility-green, Resilience-pink. There will also be a coffee van in the morning (8:30am – 9:30am).
AFTER SCHOOL (3:20pm – 4:30pm):
STEM Showcase: Set-up in the Art Room and Hall for students to show their families the incredible games they have created in STEM classes.
Family Games Challenge: Collect your challenge sheet from outside the Hall. Receive a stamp for each activity completed. Complete all six challenges as a family to collect a certificate and prize.
P&F Afternoon Tea will be set-up outside the STEM Showcase.
Garden Club Stall: seedlings, plants, arts/crafts available.
Coffee Van (3:15pm – 4:30pm).
We hope to see as many families as possible join in the fun!
WORLD TEACHERS DAY
Tomorrow we also acknowledge and celebrate World Teachers Day, a day to honour the dedicated and hardworking educators who make a profound impact on our students’ lives every day. I invite the school community to join us in thanking our wonderful teachers for their unwavering support and dedication to our students.
We at Wallington are incredibly grateful for the contributions our teachers make each day to ensure our students not only learn, but feel safe and happy, and enjoy their learning as they uncover and develop their passions. I’d also like to extend a thank you to our Parents and Friends for organising a celebratory morning tea in recognition of our teachers’ hard work.
DATES & REMINDERS
To reduce the challenges for families in keeping up with all the dates and events at school, we are now including a conclusive list of upcoming events and details at the beginning of each newsletter, called ‘Upcoming Dates’.
We acknowledge the difficulties associated with keeping up with the busy schedule of events, especially on top of competing commitments that come from juggling kids at different schools, sporting clubs, social occasions, not to mention work obligations and schedules and general digital noise!
We hope this addition makes it easier for families to track important information, lessening the burden of attempting to keep on top of everything throughout the year.

Respect: These Prep students displayed respect during lunchtime during the week, eating their Zooper Doopers on very hot day, then placing their rubbish into the rubbish bin. They used polite manners asking for their flavour and patiently waited in line. Great work Preppies!
Resilience: Some of the Year 5 and 6 students were getting frustrated by the rabbit holes on the oval, creating an unwanted obstacle in their activities. So instead of complaining about them, they decided to do something about it! The 5/6 students collected soil from the back of the oval using shovels and buckets to fill in the holes. The students showed resilience to support each other, carrying the heavy buckets as well as the digging into the hard ground. There was even a rare sighting of Mr KT getting his hands and pristine white shoes dirty to give some extra support. It's amazing to see the students look after their school!
Responsibility: During the outdoor breaks, students from Foundation to Year 4 have been using their creativity and craftmanship, making items out of clay. The students have worked well together, responsibly collecting water from the drink taps to form their clay. They have also used natural resources, such as sticks and rocks found on the ground to help mould their designs. It’s incredible to see students from all year levels work responsibly together, using the learning from Mr. Vaught’s First Nations Studies classes.
